Fiber test access solutions
Maestro supports various solutions for access to PON. The main solutions based on passive components for accessing the live PON are:
- 2*N splitter with 1 entry reserved for test system (recommended solution)
- WDM
Supports various switch configurations
In an optical central office, the OTDR is shared between PONs (up to a few hundred) with an optical switch to select the PON to test. The Maestro test system supports various switch configurations, from the most cost-effective (1*N switch) to the most powerful cross-connect switch (up to 320*320).
In addition to the test access feature, the following features are offered depending on the switch configuration:
- Remote redundancy control (OLT port, etc.)
- Automatic PON or subscriber provisioning
The most cost-effective solution: 1*N switch
The most cost-effective solution: 1*N switch

- This solution is available in a rack from 8 to 128 ports. To allow smooth growth, a scalable solution is available with up to eight modules (8, 12 or 16 ports).
2*N switch configuration for 1 OLT spare port

- This solution is based on the same technology as the previous one, but with a 2*N switch. Thus, it is possible to redirect 1 PON to 1 OLT spare port in case of failure.

Cross-connect switch features:
- Allows for redundancy and automatic provisioning
- Remotely re-configurable fiber optic cross-connect system
- 640 fiber terminations: From 8×8 to 320×320
- ANSI & ETSI standard versions
- High availability and reliability using mature 3D MEMS technology
- Excellent characteristics:
- < 1.75 dB median insertion loss
- < 20 ms switching time
- < 100 W power dissipation
- Bit rate, protocol, and wavelength independent
- Industry leading low cost per port
- NEBS certified
