Copper access network

Line test for copper lines, DSL lines and IP services (VoIP, IPTV)
VIERLING line test systems for copper lines, xDSL and IP services reduce costs, ensure sustainable customer satisfaction based on improved customer service and increase revenue by enabling new services.
Reduce your OPEX
- Take less time to find and fix problems
- Use less people to handle the fault process (call agents as well as field technicians can perform tests)
- Decrease trouble tickets through preventive maintenance
- Minimize faults by DSL qualification
- Deliver new services quickly through service qualification
Increase revenue from your fiber network
- Avoid customer churn by maintaining high service quality
- Plan deployment of new services, GPON technology evolution
Ensure continuous customer satisfaction with better services
VIERLING line test systems are characterized by
- Accurate measurements and algorithms to find and localize faults
- Use both narrow band and wide band measurements including TDR (for better fault detection and localization plus xDSL pre-qualification)
- Short test time resulting in higher availability (e.g. quick test in < 10 seconds)
- Support most switches, DSLAM integrated test access (ITAM) and external test access (ETAM) for cost-effective solutions
- Advanced diagnostics by combining MTDU measurements and other information (MIB data, etc.)
- Expert system option to provide expert knowledge to call center agents or end customers (self service)
Curative maintenance
Automatic diagnostics and localization of faults (MDF, transport, distribution, CPE, etc.):
- On access network (short cut, open, load coils, etc.)
- On network DSLAM, BAS
- On IP and services (VoIP, IPTV)
- On home network: NTE, CPE modem, filter, etc.
Depending on the system options, diagnostics are based on:
- Copper measurements (NB/WB)
- Golden modem
- External information MIB DSLAM (SELT/DELT), VoIP server, etc.
Automatic detection of line elements and terminal installation (NTE, splitter, pair gain, modem, CPE filter, POTS devices, etc.)
Preventive maintenance
- Batch of tests running in low priority on a group of lines, test type selection (NB/WB, noise, xDSL prequalification, etc.) with period and iteration
- xDSL pre-qualification: Copper fault including load coils, HR faults and the MUST parameters are measured:
- Loss (at 300 kHz for ADSL, and 1 MHz for SHDSL)
- Noise in wide band
- Longitudinal balance loss
- Service qualification before deployment or for troubleshooting
- Schedule cable repairs depending on line quality evolution
- Database consolidation: Line length, DN/EN match, capacitance, etc.
- Quick check after disaster (storms, attacks, hurricanes, etc.)
- Check all lines created or fixed the day before
